You may have had it happen before, you left home for a much needed vacation and came back home to dead or dying container plants that needed a little TLC while you were out. Some may have told their kids to water their container plants, and they forgot, others simply forgot to make proper arrangements before they left. Well in order to avoid this heart breaking scenario, here are 3 tips for keeping your container plants healthy while you are out on vacation.
1. A trustworthy neighbor
This is one of the most common solutions. Have a reliable neighbor or friend who lives close by come over and water while you are out. Make sure to show him or her the location of the pots and water source.
2. Group your containers.
When you group your container plants together it helps to reduce evaporation and transpiration from the pots.
3. Move to shaded spots or bring indoors.
If you are only going to be gone for a weekend, move your plants (grouping also helps) from a sunny location to a well shaded area.
