Rumors abound on the internet, and there’s no doubt that you’ve come across some questionable myths about residential landscaping. The following are just a few of the ones we’d like to bury beneath the grass once and for all:
“All plants struggle to stay warm in cold climates.”
Not true, plants such as peonies and evergreens do just fine in winter, and excessive heat can actually damage them.
“Fertilizing can bring any dying plant or tree back to life.”
Sometimes a tree or plant that has suddenly turned brown is not being irrigated properly, has suffered physical damage, or is suffering from disease. Fertilizing won’t cure any of these issues.
“All planting must be done in spring.”
Not true. Some plants do better when planted in the warmth of summer or the cool air of the fall. In fact, trees are best planted in the fall months.
