Many homeowners and businesses already know that proper care of your garden is essential for a beautiful landscape. However, they both tend to forget that proper care of garden tools and accessories are just as important, especially now that the winter season is knocking at our door. Here are a few fall/winter care tips that will help you prolong the life of your garden tools and accessories.
1. Drain and Store the Hose. You do not want your water lines to freeze or experience freeze damage over winter. Once you drain the hoses, wind them up and store them in a storage bin for safe keeping.
2. Organize all containers. Whether in the patio, on the porch, by the pool or near the entrance, you’re ceramic and clay pots can crack due to the cold. Clean out your pots and store them out of the sun until the winter chill is over.
3. Properly clean your tools for winter. That means removing all soil from the metal by washing, coat with oil to prevent rusting and using sandpaper to soften wooden handles.
