Japanese maples, river birch, Canada red chokecherry, and evergreens are some of the best trees for winter landscaping.
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that you can’t be thinking about the trees you want to plant in the spring. The following are some winter landscaping options to consider as you plan ahead to the warm weather on the horizon.
- Japanese Maples – These smaller trees give any winter landscape a real touch of class. They are as hearty as they are beautiful and will genuinely accent your home’s architectural features.
- River Birch – The colors of river birch stand out against the bleak and barren winter landscape. Their rich texture and beautiful greenery during the summer make this a year round charmer.
- Canada Red Chokecherry– This is a tree with a rich, wine colored bark. This will stand out against the snow and ice of the winter season.
- Evergreens – Evergreens, are, well, ever green. They look marvelous against the snow and look great year round. When choosing winter landscaping, you could try a spruce like the Norway Spruce, as it can be easy to take care of. Other great choices are White or Austrian Pines and a selection of Upright Junipers. These will all blend well with your existing landscape and home’s architectural features.
